This track talks about how music, and especially the genre of hip hop, has become such a cesspool of filth through degenerative behavior and language that it becomes barely tolerant. Especially because the filth and negativity is so widely consumed by children and young people. It has a detrimental effect on our society, and the societies of other countries as well, for generations. Somebody has to take a stand and go against the current, and try to re-direct the ship from going over the waterfall. That somebody has to be me and you. Listen and download below. Please share.

IF you can guess the sample used at the end of my track “AcadeMICS”!  DJ 501 cut up a sample from one of my favorite movies at the end of my song “AcadeMICS.”  If you can guess what movie the sample is from, I’ll give you a free copy of my entire album “Equations”!  Comment on this post or email me at arhythmatik@mlahiphop.com with your guesses! If you can’t figure out what it is, you can still download my track “AcadeMICS” free below ;)

The time has come! My latest track “Balances” produced by Life Rexall of $martyrs and The Shapeshifters is finally here! Life Rexall is one of my favorite artists. He is one of the few artists who produces and rhymes, like me. I have had this beat from Life Rexall for a while, but it took some time to craft the hook for the song. Lyrically, this track is one of my more descriptive songs about my religious and moral beliefs, but it’s also one of my more aggressive tracks. The beat set the vibe so it ended up being a dope blend of lyrical wisdom without the corniness. When I wrote for it, I actually intended to take the song in an entirely different direction, but the lyrics all kinda just seemed to fall into place and fit naturally. Take a listen and let me know what ya think! Be sure to share this with your friends and spread the word! SUPPORT POSITIVE HIP HOP!

Be sure and check out the latest LDS Music Today podcast!  My song “BackSpin”, which I released last month is featured on the podcast.  You can download the podcast in iTunes here or from LDSMusicToday.com.itunes10logo-300x300.jpgLDS Music Today - The Official Podcast

Well, it’s FINALLY here! My latest single “BackSpin” is out now! It took a bit longer than usual to get this one out for some reason. The track features one of my good friends DJ Raydn1. I actually produced the beat almost 5 years ago when we were visiting some friends in Texas. I had some free time and was looking for a completely different sound, but this one kinda produced itself and came out a banger. I wanted to bring back the nostalgia of the original days when hip hop was just starting to catch on. I remember back in elementary school breakdancing on a piece of cardboard during recess while blasting the boombox. We even had a school-sponsored breakdance contest at Downey Elementary in Cortez, Colorado haha. It was those days I wanted to help people remember with the lyrics, all while throwing in some underground hip hop metaphorical stuff. I recorded the lyrics in my office at Arizona State University a few late nights I was working haha. Hope my old boss doesn’t see that one! lol Once DJ Raydn1 put the cuts on, it gave it that classic boom-bap original hip hop sound it needed. Hope you like it and be sure to share this with your friends on the web!

Comment on this post and I’ll email you with the download link to my new song.  Now aren’t you excited?

IT’S LIIIIIIIIIIIVE!  Go check out my latest track entitled “AcadeMICS” in iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, everywhere! This song is the first to be released from my “Equations” album.   The track features DJ 501 on the cuts.  This song was actually made over 3 years ago.  It was the first song I made after I completed my Pre-Algebra EP.  The title of the track represents the fact that the average hip hop fan has no idea where this music came from and the history and culture behind the music (half of the MC’s out there don’t even understand hip hop’s origins).  To truly appreciate what hip hop is, and what is “good” and “real” hip hop, people need to understand how it originated.  This song isn’t a history lesson or anything, but it does emphasize the 4 elements of hip hop culture- B-Boying, DJ’ing, MC’ing, and Graffiti art.  The best way to improve the state of hip hop music is to gain a better understanding of the art and culture behind it’s origins.  If we want to make hip hop worth anything of value, we need to become educated and study hip hop’s history; thus the name, AcadeMICS.  The emphasis is on the MICS at the end because what better way is there to learn about hip hop’s history than from the tool that brought hip hop to the masses?
